Some people think that the age limit for driving should be increased in order to make driving safer. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
作文:
Is the increase of driving age limit a necessary or even a sufficient condition to achieve the stated objective - driving safer? The answer, in most likelihood, will be negative, because I assure that the safety of driving is not significantly correlated with the age. Therefore, I cannot take my stance on it.
Fundamentally, the claim fails to account for other possible means of making driving safer. Driving experience, above all, is one of the most significant factors that must be taken into account. Specifically, most traffic accidents have been tested related to how long the driver has been certified the driving licence. That is, countless drivers who have just gotten their licence coming on road each year, with inferior driving experience, usually get panic and perplexed when confronting large volumes of traffic. Then, the tension and pressure usually lead them to make wrong directions and actions, thereby resulting in many accidents. Therefore, anyone holding the licence within a year should be encouraged to drive with another experienced driver during peak time. By doing this will driving safety be largely enhanced.
Besides, it seems to me that increasing the driving age limit would fail to suffice by itself to making one drive much safer. Common sense tells me that it will be largely ineffective unless all other conditions are met as well. Most notably, the driver must have a sense of safe driving, meaning no attempt to drive after drinking any alcohol. After all, instilling a sense of safe driving, particularly through education from primary to higher education is conducive to decreasing the morbidity of jury on road. Then, the overall condition of vehicle must be inspected prior to the driver starting the engine, such as going through all wheels. The familiarity with the road is also another important factor, especially when one drives at night.
In sum, the claim erroneously makes the conclusion based on the faulty assumption that most traffic accidents are directly caused by young people - the younger the driver is, the more accidents will be. Hence, it seems hasty at best to conclude that the government must increases the age limit for driving in order to make safer driving.
