The world’s natural resources such as oil, forests and fresh water are being consumed at an ever-increasing rate.
What are the dangers of the situation? What can be done to solve the problem?
Introduction
The consumption rate of natural resources is alarmingly increasing at a rapid pace, especially due to soaring global population numbers. Despite these issues, a number of viable solutions exist that may assist individuals in tackling these significant environmental issues.
In this day and age, the rate of petroleum usage is quite frightening, which is caused by heavy industrial and individual reliance on vehicles and machinery. Furthermore, deforestation is disrupting natural ecosystems by causing certain species to become extinct as well as being responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases. In addition, freshwater is becoming a scarce commodity meanwhile a vast number of regions are plagued by drought, which forces citizens to cut back the utilization of water in their daily lives. If these terrible trends continue, serious environmental, physical and atmospheric conditions will result, affecting humanity in drastic ways.
In order to avert such a bleak future, government ought to implement strict limits on the usage of oil or provide incentives for companies and individuals to use renewable energies, including solar, wind or hydroelectric power. Authorities must also restrict corporations from unnecessarily clearing forests and impose heavy fines on companies who overtly misuse their power. Regarding water usage, individuals need to learn to constrict their consumption and scientists must find a way to make the desalination process more efficient and cost-effective.
Overall, the worrisome rate at which natural resources are being used up is of deep concern to various stakeholders in society. This disturbing course must be reversed in order to avoid heading down a path of desolation of the natural environment and to secure prosperous living conditions for future generations.
